Surreal and spectral folk tones drift from the corners of The Way Out Inn, Kyle Hamlett's second solo offering. Produced by Joe McMahan (Justin Townes Earle, Shelby Lynne, Allison Moorer). Meditations on the unconscious and the strange and liminal nature of being, Hamlett's worldview deepens here into further explorations of things unseen. Following 2022's Tape Diamonds, a duo collaboration with ambient pedal steel ace Luke Schneider (Margo Price, William Tyler, Lilly Hiatt), these songs evoke dreams, fractured narratives and empty rooms in border towns where the music always plays. A moon, a map, Vishnu, a singing needle, and always a low star to light the way.

"The Way Out Inn is aptly named -- its songs simultaneously exploratory and tethered to American song traditions. Kyle is as much a master of songcraft as he is of fingerstyle guitar playing, evoking equal parts Pulp and Fahey. His poetry traverses the backroads of the subliminal and the surreal only to suddenly land in your lap with the emotional immediacy of a stray cat. And like a stray cat, these songs offer new mysteries each time you visit them."
